Snow day!

Today Ben and I spent the day at Alpine Meadows at the the Disability Sports USA Adaptive Ski School. He had never skied before and I was so nervous about him being on regular skis. We thought he would do sit skiing but after he was looked over it was decided that it would be more beneficial for him to stand ski. Ben is such a champion that he took to skiing like a duck to water. Driving home he said this was the happiest day of his life. (He loves life so much though that this comment comes up at least once a week.) He grinned from ear to ear the entire time; it was a great confidence booster and so enjoyable. I think we'll go again next week. It is a FANTASTIC program there and I was very impressed by how professional, flexible and enthusiastic the staff was. We have been to other activities that should be equally as great and understanding because of the crowd they cater to but are anything but. This is something we will totally do again. He had two private instructors for the day, Shirley and Cheryl, they are the two in the pictures with him. Ben loved it and I loved watching him. His buddy Chance also went and Ben really enjoyed hanging out with him.

This is Ben & Chance, I love that Ben thinks Chance is the ultimate in cool. It's so good for him to have an older bud to look up to that can relate to the stuff Ben deals with. Ben is soooo looking forward to water skiing with him in the summer. Cool stuff!

Uncle Pete also came along to help me out, which is always nice. I told him he couldn't bring his snow board. He was so bummed and even more so when we found out he could have! Oh well maybe next time. We had a blast watching Ben anyhow.
