FREE RICE!

Awesome site I just learned about: it's called freerice.com. It tests your vocabulary and donates rice. For every word you test yourself on, the site donates 20 grains of rice through the United Nations World Food Program. This is so fun and a great way to help fight hunger without leaving home! They even show you how many grains of rice you've donated in a rice bowl graphic next to the words.

I checked it out on Snopes.com and it's true; the advertisers at the bottom of each page are the ones who pay for the rice.

I just donated 620 grains of rice! The word that stumped me? Girder= beam, who knew? Not me! Anyhow it’s fun and if you get a break in your day, why not?

GOOOOOOAL!!!!!

Yesterday Peter and Ben had their first soccer games of the season. They both looked positively adorable in their little uniforms. In fact, the entire teams of the 3-4 year olds were too cute. Every kid despite what team they were on, followed the ball every where it went. It was a mob that went back and forth throughout the game.

My camera is not working like it should be and it's time for a new one. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to post of my future MLS players this week. I will buy a new one before next week's games but in the mean time I am happy to report that each of the Brogger Boys scored a goal!

My brother Peter is coaching Peter's team and it's really special for him to have his soccer loving uncle as his coach. Needless to say these guys had quite a fan base with a total of 12 people coming out to watch them. We are ardent soccer fans so my family wouldn't miss the games for anything! Lots of fun!

Skippito Friskito

The entire Brogger family loves books. We are pretty much book junkies; can never get enough of them. Some women are addicted to shoes or handbags, I am addicted to buying children's books. In our home we have a room dedicated to books and the boys have well over 2,500. This post is about a book that we read over and over again. It's been Sam's favorite since he was about 10 months old and he can, in his own way of course, retell any one of them. There are 3 that we own, counting the baby board book "Up and Down". Anyhow I was talking to a friend about favorite books and she had never heard of the Skippy Jon books, I couldn't believe it. I think every family with young children will enjoy these hilarious books. The first one is still my favorite but it's so easy to fall in love with this big-headed-Spanish-speaking siamese cat who thinks he's a chihuahua.

If you haven't read them, check them out- you won't be sorry. I am working on adapting a story for our talent show this year. It's going to be great!

Zoo

Just in case you ever wondered what a trip to the zoo might be like with 4 little boys between the ages of 8 and 2... it's all about lizards, frogs and snakes. Amphibians are key with my little boys! It was a hot stinky place in that reptile house (where neither I or Grandma Mari cared to be if it weren't for these men) but the boys loved it and at their request I took the following pictures. Since I don't have much use for them, I though I'd post them here. Enjoy! Grandma Mari left this morning and we miss her already. It was very nice to spend a few days with her but I'm glad she took Monday off- I think she'll need it to recover from this crazy place we call home. Anyhow, we love you and were glad to have you with us!

Happy 4th of July!

Grandma Mari is visiting from Michigan and we have been keeping her busy! Last night we caught a Ports game with fireworks afterwards. Lots of fun! Ports lost but we had a good time.
The boys had a fun time talking to the pitchers at the bull pen. Since this blogspot thing is not letting me type next to each picture to let you know what is happening, this is how it goes and you can figure it out with the given information. The first 5 are of the game followed by Ben's post op visit to Shriners. He got his AFO's- they are camouflaged. Very cute and he doesn't seem to mind them so much, which is a very good thing. That visit to Shriners was lots of fun. It always is fun there, despite all the procedures Shriners continues to be a blast. We are so blessed to have one close by. Ben and Peter were working on Lion hand Puppets. Eric, or shall I say Dan Jr., was reading ESPN of course- what else does an 8 yr old read? Then you see a framed picture- that is the latest of the pictures we have had done of our little men. My scanner is not working lately but I wanted to share how adorable they look so there you go. Followed by that are some Father's Day Dinner at church pictures. My sons thought it was a good idea to put the bread basket on their heads. The last one is of the Veteran's Day Parade. Not a great picture but it shows off their homemade outfits.
