Ben the Brave!

Ben's class performed a circus that was just too adorable last week! He was the alligator wrestler, and the lion tamer!!! I could just gobble him up, he's so lovely. He had a great time of course and all the children did a super amazing job. Mrs. Salley is the greatest and we love her for the great opportunities she gives the kids. Always a blast in Kindergarten!

At Ben's last Shriner's visit we were told that he should have an MRI because he has some increasing balance problems and his toes curl more than they did before. Well to make a long story short, we went back for the results yesterday and Ben has tethered cord. This will require another surgery- spinal surgery. I am grateful for advanced medicine and blessings in our lives but at the same time I can't help but feel overwhelmed.

It's so easy to forget that there's anything "wrong". We are so used to our daily routine that the cathing and bowel management just get done; there never feels like there's an extra step. He's just our baby like the other guys are until we go to these appointments. Then we have to hear things that are obviously necessary to hear but nonetheless stink. I feel a million different things right now. Dr. Boggan says that surgery is necessary because when sensation is lost with tethered cord, it can never be recovered. How scary is that?!!! I hate this feeling.

Anyhow, surgery will probably take place in the next month, late May or early June. Please keep my lovely Ben in your prayers.
